The only thing better than a great laptop is a great laptop that fits your budget. Nowadays, even cheap PCs pack the specs to help you tackle whatever’s on your to-do list, whether it’s work, school assignments, watching Netflix, or just endlessly browsing social media. If you’re looking to pick up a new laptop (but don’t necessarily want to wipe your savings account in one go), we’re compiling a weekly list of the best deals on laptops across major retailers right here. Read on for our top picks as of May 6 (categorized by price, then listed in alphabetical order).
Laptop deals under $300This is prime territory for entry-level Chromebooks with Intel Celeron N Series processors, embedded MultiMediaCard (eMMC) flash storage, and 11- to 14-inch displays that are geared toward light multitasking.
Why we like itThis 14-inch ASUS E410 laptop comes with an Intel Celeron N4500 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of eMMC storage. It’s nothing to write home about spec-wise, but Best Buy(opens in a new tab)’s clearance pricing puts it at an incredibly tempting price point for casual web surfers. (It also comes with a free month’s worth of Xbox Game Pass, though we wouldn’t recommend playing any games on it besides The Sims or Minecraft on low graphics settings.) It’s just $6 more expensive than another E410 configuration(opens in a new tab) on clearance with half the storage capacity and a worse CPU.

Laptop deals under $600A bit of a catch-all, this price range often includes bare-bones gaming laptops, upgraded Chromebooks, and 2-in-1 PCs with solid-state drive (SSD) storage and 15- to 17-inch displays.
Why we like itThe Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i is a tough and sleek 15-inch laptop with narrow bezels and a fast-charging feature that provides two hours of use after being plugged in for 15 minutes. Its build meets military-grade durability standards, so it’ll hold up well against the wear and tear of daily commutes or frequent travel. Frequently Asked Questions There are several times throughout the year when we see extra-low prices on laptops:
Around Amazon Prime Day, which generally happens in early July
During back-to-school sales in July and August
When retailers’ Black Friday and holiday deals are in full swing from October to December
Laptops also tend to get cheaper just after manufacturers announce next-generation models. With that in mind, keep an eye out for some additional price drops on older MacBooks as Apple gears up for the (rumored) launch of three new models at its annual Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) in early June. We also expect to see more deals on Samsung laptops as the company continues to embrace its Galaxy Book3 era.
We find the best laptop deals at major retailers like Amazon and Best Buy (and occasionally Walmart). But because they often inflate original list prices to make discounts look better than they actually are, we also cross-check their offers with manufacturers’ direct websites. Many of them are usually running sales of their own, too.
We’re partial to Acer, Apple, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, LG, Microsoft, MSI, Razer, and Samsung: They’re reputable brands that typically tick most (or all) of the right boxes when it comes to innovative features, durable build quality, customer support, and overall value.
