It’s still a Barbie world.

2023’s Barbie summer may be in our rear view, but Google is keeping the love alive with a sweet, new bubblegum hue for its Pixel 9. The pink shade is called “Peony.”
Mashable officially asked the powers-that-be for a pink phone back in October 2022, so we’re pretty jazzed to finally get one. Apple wimped out on delivering a true pink hue in its most recent iPhone 15 lineup, offering up a barely there, lovely but totally lackluster rose color instead. In June, Razr came through by bringing back a 2024 version of its signature hot pink flip phone.
Feast your eyes on the new pink Pixel 9But this Pixel 9 pink — it’s perfect. This Google device is a delicious hit of dopamine amidst a sea of subdued greys, blues, and blacks.

If pink isn’t your thing, you have company. Gizmodo called the shade “so disgustingly pink you can taste it,” a description that smacks of a personal vendetta against Pepto-Bismol which is, frankly, none of our business.
Anyways, we find the hue as refreshing as strawberry lemonade — and will be savoring it as we soak up the final days of summer.
The Pixel 9, which also comes in Obsidian, Porcelain, Wintergreen, is available for pre-order today with a starting price of $799. You can grab it in stores on Aug. 22.
